About Us
For more than 50 years, the California Landscape Contractors Association’s (CLCA) Los Angeles/San Gabriel Valley (LA/SGV) chapter has been serving its member contractors’ interests while concurrently investing in education and communication to advance the industry’s professionalism. Drawing upon its established past and current influence, today’s LA/SGV chapter provides a unified voice for its more than 250 “green industry” members, which include C-27 licensed landscape contractors, material suppliers, landscape designers, educators, and students.
As California’s most diverse chapter, the LA/SGV chapter counts among its past presidents four women, five African-Americans, seven Latinos and eight Asians. Additionally eight CLCA state presidents have come from the LA/SGV chapter’s membership, including the only two women to serve as CLCA’s state president, Rose Marie Head and Barbara Alvarez. In 1999, two LA/SGV members, Barbara Alvarez and Warren Gorowitz, were respectively named Regular Member of the Year and Associate Member of the Year.
The LA/SGV chapter recognizes and applauds the efforts of its individual members in continuing the chapter’s tradition of industry excellence and professionalism via its annual Beautification Awards. This awards program encourages interest in landscaping, recognizes craftspeople, creates pride in superior workmanship, and bestows public recognition on companies, institutions, municipalities, and residents for their interest in a beautiful California. Projects receiving awards range from small residential projects costing less than $15,000 to residential estate projects exceeding $300,000, and also include maintenance work and commercial projects.
